Filtering
Spam Under Outlook Express
Dialogue's
e-mail servers scan all incoming messages for criteria often found
in junk email (i.e. spam). When a message matches this criteria,
the keyword {SPAM?} is inserted into the beginning of the subject
line. Users are able to isolate this junkmail from legitimate email
by setting up a Message Rule under Outlook Express. The instructions
below will help you setup a rule that will isolate incoming SPAM
messages from legitimate messages by placing them into a SPAM folder
(rather than your Inbox). From there, suspected messages can be
reviewed and/or deleted periodically.
1. Open Outlook
Express
2. Create a
folder named SPAM
Select
Local Folders
(above the Inbox)
Click
File...Folders...New
Type
SPAM for the folder name.
Click
OK
3. Create a rule to filter messages to SPAM folder
Click
Tools...Message Rules...Mail
Click
New to create a new rule

Place
a check mark next to "Where the Subject line contains specific
rules"
At the
bottom of the screen, click on the words "contains
specific words"
Type
in {SPAM?} and Click OK
Place
a check mark next to "Copy it to the specified folder"
At the
bottom of the window, look for the line "Copy to the specified
folder"
Click
on the word "specified"
Highlight
the SPAM folder we created in Step 2

Click OK
