My
email stalls with the message "Receiving Message x of Y..."
The
message that is stalling probably has a large file attached to it.
You can either wait for the file to finish downloading, or contact
us to have the message deleted from your mailbox.

I
get disconnected frequently or my connect speed is unusually slow...
Disconnections and slow connection speeds are often the result
of a noisy phone line. The source of the noise could be either the
cabling running to your modem, or the telephone company's wiring
leading to your home. Some tips to identify whether your problem
is noise related or not...
If you have
two phone lines, try connecting the other phone line to your computer
and dialing in. If you can connect with one line, but not the other,
line noise is probably your problem.
Replace the
phone cable between your modem and the wall jack. Old cables can
crack and allow noise to bleed into your line.
If you have
any splitters or surge guards, temporarily disconnect them and run
the phone cable directly to your modem. This should be done just
as a test as your computer will be vulnerable to a lightning damage
until your surge guard is reconnected.
Call your phone
company and ask them to check the line. Verizon can test your phone
line remotely for noise. If your line is determined to be noisy,
they may be able to resolve the issue.
If you have
call waiting, make sure the phone number in your connection profile
has a *70, in front of it. This temporarily disables call waiting
for the duration of your call. Otherwise, incoming phone calls may
disconnect you.

Some
websites will not come up...
If some sites won't come up but a majority of others do, the
problem is probably with the site, not your computer or your connection.
The best thing to do is wait and try the site again at a later time.

I am no longer prompted to connect
when I double click on my web browser...
Usually
the cause of this is that somehow your connection settings where
changed in your Internet Control Panel.
Open your control
panel and go to Internet Options.
Click on Connections at the top of the screen.
Make sure Always dial my default connection is checked.
Make sure your Dialogue connection is to set to be the default connection.
Click OK

I
get "Illegal Operation" messages when using the Internet...
Illegal
Operations are often the result of corrupt files on your computer.
It is recommended you reinstall the application that is crashing.
Consult your computer manufacturer for more assistance.
